Reviews for Eat Right : Your Guide to Maintaining a Healthy Diet

Library Media Connection Reviews 2012 May/June
Middle schoolers appreciate frank and honest information, and this series delivers, providing quality, accurate information about various aspects of maintaining health in manageable snippets. Vivid covers will attract students, while ample photographs featuring middle and high school models and brightly colored pages will add interest. "Just the Facts" and "Healthy Tip" blurbs are peppered throughout the text. In addition to a glossary, definitions are printed on the page, making it more likely that readers will internalize the new vocabulary. This highly appealing series will be most appreciated by health and fitness teachers, but students interested in self-improvement will find these informative books useful. School Library Journal Reviews 2011 November

Gr 3-5--This series takes a well-rounded approach to keeping fit, going beyond staying active and eating right to include emotional and mental health. The diet and exercise components are strong. Eat Right discusses the USDA dietary guidelines and provides explanations of serving sizes and kid-friendly ways to consume them; Stay Fit reminds readers to incorporate 60 minutes of heart-pumping play into their day and suggests that they do so before turning on the TV. Good Choices is dedicated to making smart appraisals and is particularly helpful in encouraging readers to make the right choice-complete with an instructional chart on decision making-even if it's not the easiest one. Finally, Stress offers sound insight into dealing with day-to-day dilemmas. The high-quality advice, magazinelike layout, and bright color photographs put these titles ahead of the pack.
