Reviews for Blood : The Circulatory System

School Library Journal Reviews 2007 April

Gr 2-4-- These basic introductions explore the functions of blood and bones and their roles in maintaining a body's health. Although packed with a great deal of new vocabulary for young readers, the large print, labeled diagrams, and glossary help make the titles easily accessible for their target audience. Full-color photos, including electronic micrographs (Blood ) and human skeletons (Bones ), will also attract readers and aid in their understanding. Ten two-page chapters highlight the mechanics of the individual systems. The books seem to end abruptly, without a summary to connect all the information presented. They are comparable to Anna Sandeman's Blood (Copper Beech, 1996) and Susan LeVert's Bones and Muscles (Benchmark, 2001), but not as well done as Seymour Simon's Bones: Our Skeletal System (HarperCollins, 1998).--Jennifer Cogan, Bucks County Free Library, Doylestown, PA
