Gr 5 Up--These how-to math books were designed to supplement instruction. Each one begins with a discussion of test-taking strategies. The layout is attractive; the effective use of white space will keep readers from becoming overwhelmed by the content. The titles are divided into brief chapters, each highlighting a basic skill or property, followed by problems in a "Test Time" box that's designed to look like notebook paper. The problems are "Multiple Choice" or ask readers to "Explain Your Answer" or "Show Your Work." "Test-Taking Hint" and "Definition" text boxes are prominent throughout the series; some of them are repeated in different volumes. Valuable resources for independent study, tutoring, and supplemental classroom material.
