Reviews for Wizard of Oz

Horn Book Guide Reviews 2012 Spring
An edition of Baum's classic fantasy first published in 1996 is reissued in a slightly altered format. The illustrations, many of them full-page paintings, showcase Zwerger's distinctive quirky style in a way that fits the text. Libraries with the earlier edition need not replace it, but this is a successful re-imagining of a well-loved story.

Library Media Connection Reviews 2012 March/April
A new generation of children learns about the land of Oz and all its magical inhabitants in this beautifully illustrated version of the classic story. The book gives some interesting background information about each of the characters. Being able to use this book for language arts activities will make it one that teachers will use. This version has a combination of full-page and small, scattered illustrations throughout the text. Youngsters who find Baum's original volume overwhelming, will enjoy this blend of illustrations and text. Marge Cox, Media Specialist, Veterans Memorial Elementary School, Naples, Florida.
