Reviews for Great Depression

Booklist Reviews 2013 February #1
The third Cornerstones of Freedom series has as its tagline, "Bringing history to life." That may be pushing it, but these slim volumes do provide middle-grade readers with a solid basis for understanding the various ways in which the U.S. government functions. In The Great Depression, readers will get a real feel for what it was like to live through that anxious period. The series format is bright and attractive, with a very readable typeface and plenty of photos and period illustrations that are selected for variety, inclusiveness, and drama. Each book concludes with an explanation of primary and secondary sources and further details terms used in the text. Copyright 2012 Booklist Reviews.
