Reviews for Napping House Wakes Up/Pop Up
School Library Journal Reviews 1994 November
K-Gr 2-This pop-up rendition of a modern classic won't wake up many readers. The story is compressed into 10 full-page spreads (from the original 14), with the result that the nappers pile atop one another in pairs rather than one by one, the final scene is a conflation, several lines of text are dropped, and the pacing is uneven. Except for the flea's dramatic advent on an acetate strip, the pop-up effects aren't particularly eyeopening either. The dozing dog rolls over about an inch, the snoozing cat's tail barely twitches, and several strings and struts are plainly visible after the tabs are pulled. Buy another copy of the original picture book, which is more dramatic and considerably less fragile.-John Peters, New York Public Library Copyright 1994 Cahners Business Information.
